We accept children from the age of 3, and there is no upper age limit (some of our students are over 70). However, we request that parents of young children stay with their child for a few weeks until their child is settled in.

No, however, we do put a lot of emphasis into learning about Sikhi during both Punjabi and Kirtan lessons. Following Sikh values, we accept people of any race, religion, culture etc. (we may find it hard to teach someone who knows neither English nor Punjabi/Hindi/Urdu, but we can try!)

There are no regular fees to attend SSSEC classes, although as it costs us roughly £150 per pupil per year, we ask parents to donate what they are comfortable with to help us cover the cost of hiring the facilities and buying new resources. However, you may need to purchase textbooks or workbooks to complement lessons. External exam fees must also be paid by the students.

Currently there is no uniform, although we are looking into having a uniform in the near future. We would like our pupils to dress smartly and appropriately, and have their heads covered at all times inside the building.

Lunch is provided by a dedicated group of parent volunteers, who buy fruit and milk, as well as preparing cheese and cucumber sandwiches and jam sandwiches for the students. If your child has any dietary requirements which prevent them from eating these, they can bring their own lunch if they wish (it must be vegetarian)

You are welcome to help financially if you wish; we rely completely on donations to run these services, and our volunteers work free of charge, so any help is appreciated. You can donate quickly and easily online, or into our bank account. Click here for more information!

For admissions we ask parents to bring along the students so that a photo can be taken. If the student is aged 6 or under we ask for proof of age (i.e. passport or birth certificate). You may also wish to bring cash to buy textbooks for the year as well as cash or payment card for donations.
